7MDG contributes to airfest success Published May 7, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Chelsea Browning 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 7th Medical Group played a large role during the Dyess Big Country Airfest in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the B1-Bomber arriving at Dyess. The medical group worked with the base fire department, security forces and local hospitals as part of an Emergency Management Exercise designed to emulate a plane crash to help preplan in the event of the real thing during the airshow. "The exercise was a good evaluation tool to point out areas where we needed work," said Capt. Charles Bevan, flight surgeon. "By the time the airshow came around, we were 100 percent." During the show, flight medicine was staged at the fire department in case of emergencies, which there were none. First-aid was located in a hangar and assisted with two preterm labor issues, one diabetic, one person with Alzheimer's disease and also helped with lost children. "The med group as a whole did outstanding," said Captain Bevan. "Everything went as expected." The 7 MDG also provided 54 volunteers to assist with the concession stands.
