Day at the zoo

ABILENE, Texas—Members of The Abilene Zoological Society present Col. Robert Gass, 7th Bomb Wing commander, with a key and proclamation May 15 at the Abilene Zoo designating this date of each year “Zoolute to Dyess.” Zoolute is a day of appreciation dedicated to members of the armed forces extending to retirees and family. ABILENE, Texas— A turtle emerges from the pond water to rest on a nearby log May 15 here at the zoo. The turtle was just one of many animals that could be seen during the “Zoolute to Dyess” event. The Abilene Zoological Society hosts this event annually to celebrate members of the armed forces retired or active duty and their families. During the celebration there was a wide variety of entertainment, food, drinks, and prizes available at no cost to military, affiliates and their families. Annually on May 15 the Abilene Zoological Society hosts a day of appreciation dedicated to members of the armed forces, retirees and their family members.
