7 CMS commander receives Bronze Star Medal
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Maj. Darren Brumfield, 7th Component Maintenance Squadron commander, is awarded the Bronze Star Medal here Sept. 28 by 7th Bomb Wing commander Col. David Beén. While serving as a squadron commander in Afghanistan, Major Brumfield was responsible for standing up the first Afghan Air Wing in Kandahar. He also oversaw the safe transport of 215,600 pounds of cargo and over 1,800 Afghan soldiers, airmen, patients, casualties and captured insurgents.
