Team Dyess honors a fallen Airman
DYESS AIR FORCE, Texas –Norm Archibald, Mayor of Abilene, Texas, speaks to Dyess Airmen Feb. 18 during a dedication ceremony to celebrate Staff Sgt. Ray Rangel's life and commitment to Air Force core values at the cantonment area here. The cantonment area was renamed Ray Rangel Air Base in honor of the fallen sergeant. Sergeant Rangel lost his life more than five years ago while attempting to save three Soldiers trapped in an overturned and submerged Humvee in a canal in northern Iraq. There were fire trucks, explosive ordinance disposal specialists, security forces and ambulance equipment on display, as well as tents and other items for the public to see what deployed life is like.
