Forty-four individual ready reserve personnel traveled from as far away as 170 miles to participate in the IRR muster hosted by the 7th Bomb Wing here April 16.

The purpose of a muster is to gather IRR members, made up of former regular Air Force Airmen and non-drilling reservists, and to maintain their contact information and availability for activation to support a partial, total or full mobilization activation scenario.

Muster participants are sent a packet containing orders, a notification letter and other fact sheets 90 days prior to the scheduled event. Those who attend the one-day event receive muster pay which is similar to temporary duty pay.

"I felt the muster went very well," said 2nd Lt. Christopher Stepps, 7th Force Support Squadron force management chief. "If any problems arose with IRR members not having their paperwork or an updated they were provided all resources to resolve their problems in a timely manner. All IRR members were pleased and said they learned a lot of valuable information on education opportunities for reserve troops. They also very much appreciated the one on one time with the reserve recruiter during the processing line."

Col. David Been, 7th Bomb Wing commander, opened the muster by welcoming all IRR members and thanking them for coming out to the one-day event. The muster included briefings from Reserve recruiters encouraging IRR members to join the Reserves.

"Overall it was a great event; giving the IRR members an opportunity to reconnect with their POCs for updates on reserve opportunities," Lieutenant Stepps said.
