"Critical Days of Summer" begins at Dyess Published May 25, 2011 By Airman Charles V. Rivezzo 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The annual "Critical Days of Summer" campaign began here May 24, and will run through the rest of the summer season. The CDS campaign is an Air Force-wide campaign designed to raise awareness in an effort to prevent accidents during the summer, which is when they occur the most. The campaign traditionally begins Memorial Day weekend and ends Labor Day weekend. It is the time when the Air Force typically experiences more mishaps since we are outside more often, and the Air Force focuses on safety to minimize accidents. "Historically, we have always seen a rise in mishaps during the summer months due to people getting out and doing more," said Tech. Sgt. Amber King 7th Bomb Wing safety official. "We want people to be aware of this fact and reinforce the importance of safety involved with all summer activities." The goal for Team Dyess's CDS campaign is to have zero reportable mishaps by enacting a proactive safety culture, fostered by commanders, supervisors and individuals, and to create and maintain safety vigilance on and off-duty.
