The Dyess Auto Hobby Shop received its newest piece of equipment recently, a Geoliner 680, which is a wheel aligner that uses lasers.

The new $40,000 state-of-the-art machine allows the auto shop technicians to complete tire alignments with pinpoint accuracy.

According to hofmann-usa.com, technicians can go from set-up to readings in less than two minutes, 70 percent faster than conventional alignment methods.

"This allows us to do alignments faster and more accurately," said Michael DeMore, Dyess Auto Hobby Shop manager. "We're going to be able to help a lot of people who we've had to send downtown, costing them more money."

Correct wheel alignments reduces tire wear, improves fuel efficiency, enhances the comfort of the ride and helps with safe steering.

"When a car is going down the road, the tires aren't always parallel to each other or the road," said DeMore. "This can cause the tires to wear faster than normal and eventually pop. It can also cause pulling. An alignment can fix these problems. With this machine, we're able to adjust it to exactly where the manufacture intended it to be."

Not only does the Dyess Auto Hobby Shop perform alignments, they also provide brake jobs, electrical work, A/C work, diagnostics, suspension, custom parts and more. They can even perform minor repair work on boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles.

"We provide the same quality as the people downtown, but cheaper," said Bill Miley, Master ASE Technician. "I'm here to provide quality, honest service to our customers."

The Dyess Auto Hobby Shop will perform free alignment checks throughout May.
