Rivezzo 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Dyess has implemented a new program that provides their fellow airmen with the ultimate wingman, Dyess Against Drunk Driving. "We want DADD to be the plan when airmen go out," said Airman 1st Class Corey Schuler, DADD chairman. "The purpose of DADD, is to turn the Air Force's Airman Against Drunk Driving concept into a Team Dyess effort. We want to make DADD a part of Dyess' culture." Kicking-off May 24 at 10 p.m., DADD, encourages Airmen who are out having drinks to call when a change in plans leaves them without a designated driver. "We want everyone to know that this program is designed to keep our wingmen safe and keep everybody out of trouble," Schuler said. "Everything is confidential and only a first name is even requested when phoning for a ride home. DADD will host volunteers from all ranks, and it's for all ranks." DADD consists of fellow airmen volunteers who use their personal vehicles to provide safe rides home. Getting a DUI on or off base, your base driving privileges are taken away automatically for one year. According to a study at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, having a DUI conviction will result in salary cut, legal fees, higher insurance and lost retirement benefits. The study concluded the financial consequence of getting a DUI after drinking six beers adds up to $110,521 per beer. "The consequences associated with drinking and driving is life-changing," Schuler said. "Our goal is to save lives and careers. DADD makes that possible."
