Dyess' mobile app, MyMC2, officially went public May 24.

The app, available on Android and iPhone operating systems, promises to centralize Dyess' community events, organizations and services.

"I can definitely see how this would be useful," said Maryann Holt, commissary shopper, as she downloaded the app standing next to the cooler with the juices and cheese.

There are currently 15 base organizations participating. Their events and phone numbers are available on the app, with more organizations getting onboard each week.

"I was thrilled when I found out about the Dyess app for smartphones," said Stephanie Kraly, 7th Force Support Squadron marketing director. "This gives us a more direct and immediate contact with base members than was ever possible in the past. I can't wait to see how our services participation grows with people being in the know."

The services squadron is responsible for almost every morale boosting and quality-of-life entity on base. Comprised of the fitness center, bowling center, golf course, tickets and tours, auto hobby shop and youth programs, just to name a few; 7th FSS brings fun and excitement to what may be an otherwise not so fun or exciting location.

"We offer trips for all ages, discounted tickets to Dallas Cowboys football games, discounts at almost every theme park in Texas, and at times with so much going on, things can change that can cause cancelations and unexpected closures, so this is great." Kraly said. "As people get onboard with the app and are more aware of the services we offer, not only will our services be better utilized, but we'll be able to expand on those services and offer even more."

According to Airman 1st Class Charles Rivezzo, the one responsible for Dyess being the first base in Air Combat Command to have the app, "as base organizations start utilizing the app and the events feature it offers, Dyess airmen and their families will be able to plan their weekends in advance, taking full advantage of all the things happening here that they may not otherwise know about."

Rivezzo caught wind of the app's development and immediately began coordination to implement it here.

"We had talked within our office about trying to develop an app for the base, but once I heard about this, I knew it was the way to go," he said.

Through an informal survey taken at the base commissary, most people were not yet aware of the base's app, but downloaded it during or immediately after learning about it.

"I like it," said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Victoria Flores, 317th Airlift Group, after downloading it and browsing its features. "I will certainly be using it in the future. It sure beats trying to use Safari to search for things."
