Volunteers from the 317th Operations Support Squadron came out to help the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Abilene staff relocate into a new building June 6, in Abilene, Texas.

The volunteers worked with the BBBS staff for more than five hours moving equipment to the new location.

"I can't imagine completing this task without the help from the 317th OSS," said Tim Yandell, BBBS regional executive director. "We were ecstatic to hear that 25 volunteers from Dyess would be lending a hand on moving day."

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor-supported organization that provides support, guidance, friendship and fun to children by matching them with adult role models. The agency's mission is to enrich, encourage and empower children to reach their highest potential through safe, positive mentoring relationships.

"There's such an amazing bond between Dyess and the Abilene community," said Patrick Clancy, 317th Operations Support Squadron. "Today we wanted to come out and show our appreciation for everything they do for us."

The Big Brothers Big Sisters program will be relocated to the old First State Bank on 547 Chestnut Street, Abilene, Texas. The new location spans more than 8,500 square feet and is expected to support more than 900 mentoring relationships.

"We have been searching for a permanent location for more than four years," Yandell said. "But after months of reviewing our relocation options and the support from the City of Abilene we're excited to say that our search is finally over and we have a new home to meet the needs of our team."
