The Dyess first sergeants group and chaplain team held a midnight barbecue Aug. 29, 2012, for Dyess personnel working swings and mid-shifts at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.

The barbecue gave first sergeants and chaplains an opportunity to interact with Airmen.

"We're all about creating relationships and building those relationships," said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Boyd Short, 7th Bomb Wing chaplain. "We want Airmen to know that we're here for them and that they can come to us as a starting point for anything on their mind."

For Airmen, this was a chance to enjoy some food and talk with base leadership.

"It's great to see base leadership cares about us," said Airman 1st Class Aaron Roosa, 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. "The food was great, and it was very laid back."

Dyess first sergeants and chaplains are always available to Airmen in need. The Chapel office is located at 158 Ave. B, Dyess AFB. The hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. To contact the chaplain office, call (325) 696-4224.

For after-hours emergencies, call the command post at (325) 696-1921 and ask for the duty chaplain.
