Due to recent incidents involving military members traveling abroad while on leave, it makes sense to re-educate personnel on the steps that are required prior to traveling outside of the United States. Please ensure all military personnel planning to take leave outside the United States are aware of their responsibility to consult the Department of Defense Foreign Clearance Guide https://www.fcg.pentagon.mil and comply with travel requirements for each country they plan to visit.

Typically this requires submitting a Country Clearance Request via the Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System, accomplishing pre-travel FP/Personnel Recovery Training and having an ISOPREP on file in the Personnel Recovery Mission SIPR database. The APACS piece alone normally requires a 30 to 45-day lead time, so advance planning is critical. For more information, call the Antiterrorism Office at (325) 696-2591.
