Air Force Assistance Fund kicks off March 4 Published Feb. 25, 2013 By 1st Lt. Kimberly Tolley 7th Medical Group DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 2013 Air Force Assistance Fund is scheduled to start March 4 and will run through April 12. The AFAF is comprised of four Air Force charities: Air Force Village Foundation, Air Force Aid Society, General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, and Air Force Enlisted Village. These organizations help with emergency aid, educational needs and help secure retirement homes for widows and widowers of Airmen in need of financial assistance. 1st Lt. Kimberly Tolley and Senior Master Sgt. Charles Francks are the Installation Project Officers for the 2013 campaign, and Dyess' goal is to raise $101,224 for these charities. Each unit has assigned a keyworker to make contact with all assigned military personnel, and disseminate and collect donation forms, AF Form 2561. Although we cannot solicit donations from civilians or contractors, they may make cash or check donations through their keyworker. In his letter to Dyess Airmen, Col. Glen VanHerck, 7th Bomb Wing commander, summed it up saying, "Today, as fewer civilian agencies are available to help those in our Air Force family who need it, we need to make sure we are here for our fellow Airmen.
