A Dyess Airman assigned to the 7th Maintenance Operations Squadron, 7th Bomb Wing, was arrested by the Abilene Police Department on March 27, 2013.

The Abilene Police Department, with assistance from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, began an investigation into allegations of indecent conduct with a child, which led to the arrest of Staff Sgt. Steven Bennett. He is currently being held at the Taylor County Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing.

"We are always looking out for the best interest of our Airmen, but we do hold them accountable for their actions. In keeping with good order and discipline, military personnel must exhibit impeccable personal standards and behavior, and if service members are found in violation of military or civilian law they will be held accountable," said Col. Glen VanHerck, 7th Bomb Wing commander.
