With the Dyess Event Center and the Hangar Center Commons scheduled to open July 1, Dyess Airmen are urged to take advantage of new and improved services available to club members.

Force support squadron officials emphasized that club memberships will not be affected by the reorganization of recreation and club functions, but that in fact club members can look forward to added benefits such as live entertainment, comedy nights and food and beverage events.

"This is simply a reinventing of the program in order to provide more to members for their memberships," said Manzel McGhee, the Dyess Event Center and Hangar Center Commons manager.

Club membership fees range from $3-$7 for enlisted personnel and $17 for officers and civilians on a monthly basis.

Currently, club membership cardholders enjoy 10 percent off food and beverages from any force support squadron establishment and receive various discounts at the bowling center, golf course, auto skills shop, outdoor recreation and the arts and crafts center.

Furthermore, with the consolidation and reorganization of the Dyess Event Center and Hangar Center Commons, members can enjoy greater accessibility for all types of functions, both official and unofficial. The new events center allows more flexibility to create the exact kind of event that organizations would like to host, to include providing their own catering, which wasn't previously authorized.

Manzel also noted that becoming a club member is not only beneficial to the servicemember, but is also a major revenue stream toward hosting bigger and better events.

"By supporting the club, you're supporting your force support squadron activities that are provided to you," Manzel said. "It keeps things within the military community and provides a comfortable atmosphere where you can socialize among your peers. This is a win-win situation. What do you have to lose?"
