21 Dyess Airmen receive non-judicial punishment in May, June Published July 15, 2013 7th Bomb Wing Judge Advocate DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The military justice system is a commander's program designed to support good order and discipline in the unit and to ensure mission accomplishment. One important aspect of the military justice system is nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. When commanders decide to impose nonjudicial punishment, they can choose from a variety of punishments. For enlisted members, the list includes reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay, restriction, extra duties, a reprimand or any combination thereof. Officers can receive forfeiture of pay, arrest in quarters, restriction, and a reprimand. When using non-judicial punishment, commanders weigh the facts and circumstances surrounding the offense against the member's duty performance, attitude, potential and disciplinary history. The following Airmen assigned to Dyess Air Force Base received nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 during the month of May: A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for failure to pay debt. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman and a reprimand. A 7th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for using Spice. Punishment consisted of reduction in rank to senior airman, 14 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 39th Airlift Squadron major received an Article 15 for unlawfully striking another person, conduct unbecoming of an officer and drunk and disorderly conduct. Punishment consisted of forfeiture of $3,539 pay per month for two months and a reprimand. A 7th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for misuse of a Government Travel Card. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman first class and a reprimand. A 7th Civil Engineering Squadron technical sergeant received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty and going from place of duty. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to staff sergeant, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Communication Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for failure to obey a lawful general regulation. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic, 45 days restriction to Dyess AFB, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Communication Squadron technical sergeant received an Article 15 for dishonorably failing to pay debt. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to staff sergeant and a reprimand. A 7th Equipment Maintenance Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty and false official statement. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman first class, suspended forfeiture of $500.00 pay per month for two months, 45 days extra duty, that portion of 30 days suspended and a reprimand. A 7th Force Support Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for false official statement and feigning a mental lapse in a deployed environment. Punishment consisted of reduction in rank to senior airman, suspended forfeiture of $1,201 pay per month for two months, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Maintenance Operations Squadron master sergeant received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty, cruelty and maltreatment. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to technical sergeant and a reprimand. A 7th Medical Operations Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for failure to obey a lawful order and dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman, five days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Operations Support Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for the use of marijuana. Punishment consisted of reduction in rank to senior airman, forfeiture of $1,201 pay per month for two months and a reprimand. A 7th Security Forces Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty by failing to refrain from creating a hostile work environment. Punishment consisted of a reduction to airman and a reprimand. A 7th Security Forces Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction in rank to airman, forfeiture of $849 pay per month for two months with portion of the forfeitures in excess of one month suspended, 10 days of restriction to Dyess AFB, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Security Forces Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for adultery, assault consummated by a battery and false official statement. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction in rank to airman first class, forfeiture of $1,152 pay per month for two months with portion of the forfeitures in excess of one month suspended, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. The following Airmen assigned to Dyess Air Force Base received non-judicial punishment under Article 15 during the month of June: A 3rd Air Support Operations Group senior airman received an Article 15 for failing to pay debt. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to airman first class, forfeiture of $388 pay for one month, suspended forfeiture of $1007 pay for one month and a reprimand. A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for failure to pay debt. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman first class, 30 days restriction to Dyess AFB, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 317th Maintenance Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for failure to obey a lawful order and dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman first class, suspended forfeitures of $949 pay, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 317th Operations Support Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for smoking Spice. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic and a reprimand. A 7th Maintenance Operations Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for larceny. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic, with reduction to airman basic suspended, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. A 7th Security Forces Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for going from his appointed place of duty. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to airman, forfeiture of $250 pay, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
