Dyess Air Force Base conducted an Operational Safety Review Day on Friday as a proactive effort to assess safety of operations.

“The U.S. is an aviation nation, and in the past few decades, we have taken many great strides to improve our record of safety," said Col.
Brandon Parker, 7th Bomb Wing commander. “This day serves as an opportunity to take a step back and ensure we take the correct measures to maintain that record of safety.”

During the review, wing commanders and operational and maintenance leaders assessed and discussed flying and maintenance operations, evaluated room for improvements, and address potential gaps or seams that could lead to future accidents.

“The Operational Safety Review Day is very important,” said Col. Karl Fischbach, 7th Operations Group commander. “It allowed our operation and maintenance forces to pause and take a solid look at our procedures, standards and safety measures to ensure we keep our Airmen safe both on the ground and in the air.”

Commander-led forums gathered feedback from Airmen who execute the Air Force's flying and maintenance operations every day.

“With the participation of every Airman, we had the opportunity to stop and think about what we can do better and how we can improve our operations,” said Colonel Parker. “There is always room for improvement and this day served as time to discuss ways to enhance what we're already doing to ensure we have the right processes in place to fix any problems before there’s an accident.”
