Active shooter/base lockdown advisory Published June 7, 2017 By 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- At approximately midnight Tuesday, 7th Security Forces Squadron received a 911 call about a single shot fired in Dyess Air Force Base housing. No one was injured. Security Forces personnel responded to the incident and active shooter/base lockdown procedures were implemented.“The safety and security of the base populace is paramount,” said Col. David Benson, 7th Bomb Wing commander. “The procedures were implemented to ensure the safety of Team Dyess Airmen and families, and allow Security Forces to start the investigation process and conduct a sweep of the base.”At 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, it was determined there was no longer an immediate threat and the active shooter/base lockdown was terminated.
