Dyess’ Airman and Family Readiness Center hosted the first Heroes Hiring Heroes job fair, March 31.

Heroes Hiring Heroes is an employment fair that gives an opportunity for veterans, retirees, military members and eligible family members to meet face-to-face with employers from the local area.

“We wanted to have a job fair, as an opportunity for service members who will be leaving soon,” said Jennifer Cuellar, 7th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center community readiness consultant. “The Airman and Family Readiness Center is information central. We’re here for service members and their families; that’s our mission. At the end of the day if we don’t have that information or resource, we will reach out to the community to help service members and families.”

At this event, there were approximately 17 vendors, to include U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Dallas Police, Odessa Police and more. About 100 service members, veterans, retirees and family members attended the event.

“This job fair went well,” said Staff Sgt. Ian Fulmer, Heroes Hiring Heroes attendee. “The employers provided good information.”

For those who were interested in the event but missed the opportunity to attend, the A&FRC also provides an employment distribution list for eligible people who are interested in receiving job opportunities from around the local area, stateside and the world. The list is sent by email on Fridays.

For more information or to have your email added to the distribution list, service members and families can contact the A&FRC at (325) 696-5999.
