Name of deceased Airman released

Staff Sgt. Austin Ocilka, 26, was pronounced dead at his home at approximately 9:25 a.m. Feb. 8, 2017.

He was assigned as an aircraft fuel systems craftsman in the 317th Maintenance Squadron.

“It is with a heavy heart in this time of loss that I offer my sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Austin Ocilka," said Col. Stephen Hodge, 317th Airlift Group commander. “As we mourn the loss of our teammate, we will rally together as a unit and as a community for support during this tragic time.”

The death of Ocilka is a tragic loss for Team Dyess and the Abilene community.

“I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Austin’s friends and family," said Maj. Cleve Rodriguez, 317th Maintenance Squadron commander. "Each Airman is a part of not only our team, but an extension of our family, and our hearts and doors are open to those who grieve.”

The cause of death is currently under investigation, no additional information is available at this time.
