The award makes it the second year in a row and the fourth time since 2003 the Dyess Inn has been recognized by ACC in the annual Innkeeper Award. Dyess competed against six other bases across the command, said Tech. Sgt. Dexter Laffin, Dyess Inn assistant manager. A big key to the inn success can be found in the upgrades to the facility, Sergeant Laffin said. Among the upgrades are a $21,000 pet play ground, 26 suites were remodeled, wireless access was added in all the rooms, and complimentary newspaper service. Also included in the upgrades were electronic safes, which were installed in every room to make security one of the Dyess Inn's top priorities. In all more than $230,000 was spent in upgrading the Dyess Inn, Sergeant Laffin said. Besides upgrading rooms, changing the overall experience was one of the inn's goals. To help do that the Dyess Inn implemented a full continental breakfast bar, provided a toy checkout for the younger guests, and partnered with AAFES to provide a laundry and dry cleaning service for all guests, he said. The Dyess Inn will compete on the Air Force level and represent ACC in the small base category.
