The 436th TS has become the Air Force's "one-stop shop" for new Aircrew Flight Equipment formal courses, which were validated here over the past three weeks.

Air Force personnel who will be required to complete the Aircrew Flight Equipment Officers Course, Aircrew Flight Equipment Deployed Leadership Course, Aircrew Flight Equipment Program Managers Course and the Combat Survivor Evader Locator Course will attend the courses created by 436th TS instructors.

"For the last year instructors here have been developing curriculum, syllabi and lesson plans for the these new courses," said Senior Master Sgt. Mark Wiley, 436 TS superintendent and AFE instructor. "During the past three weeks, subject matter experts from across the Air Force attended these courses to hammer out the details to ensure what we developed is exactly what students needed to be trained on."

The AFE Officer Course is a five-day course to train newly appointed AFE officers to perform their duties as AFE flight commanders.

The AFE Deployed Leadership course is a two-day course designed to train AFE personnel, who will be deploying in a leadership role, on how to effectively manage AFE deployed programs and specific requirements associated with deployed operations.

The AFE Program Managers Course is also a five-day course designed to trained AFE personnel who are or will be assuming the position to manage their unit's AFE program. This course covers most of the major programs AFE superintendents and NCOICs are responsible for and explains different ways to manage them.

With the successful validation of these new courses, the 436 TS is the hub for continuing education for AFE professional on AFE training Air Force-wide.

"The work the 436th Training Squadron put in over the last year in constructing these courses is phenomenal," said Chief Master Sgt. Martin Austin, Air Combat Command's Aircrew Flight Equipment functional manager. "These courses are vital to providing our leaders the tools necessary to take on their leadership responsibilities and ensure mission success."

In addition to the AFE leadership courses, the 436th TS is the center for the new CSEL course, which is the only formal training for the new survival radio ACC will be fielding in upcoming months.

"The CSEL course will be an opportunity for AFE personnel to come here and nail down the skills it takes to go back to their home units and effectively train others, as well as manage their units program," Wiley said.

Courses are scheduled to begin to in March with up to 16 students in each class.
