Are your kids keeping you from getting that awesome workout? Well say goodbye to at-home workouts, because the Dyess Fitness Center has opened a new Parent Child Activity room, where you can take your kids with you while you exercise.

Construction of the PCA room started in November of 2012, and it officially opened March 13, 2013.

"I love the new PCA room, it's a lot more convenient for me now that I can take my daughter with me to my workout," said Senior Airman Zaneta Jackson, 7th Force Support Squadron. "My daughter loves the play area; it keeps her busy while I exercise."

The new activity room is twice the size of the old room, and has a maximum capacity of eight children and eight adults.

"I can bring all 3 of my younger kids and not worry about the room being over crowded," said Melissa Sanders. "There's more than enough room for them to play and move around."

The total cost for the new room was $225,000, and includes treadmills, free-weights and other exercise equipment.

"I'm glad I can give my wife a break, I just run home grab my kids and go to the gym," said Capt. Jason Violette, 9th Bomb Squadron. "The new room is bigger and more equipped than the old one, and the play area is great for the kids."

The hours for the PCA room are the same as normal hours for the fitness center, weekdays from 5 a.m.-11 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
