Article 15 and Discharge actions

For the month of March 2017, three Airmen were discharged while several other Airmen received Article 15 nonjudicial punishments for their actions.

An Airman was administratively discharged for minor disciplinary infractions. His disciplinary history included two Article 15s, four Letters of Reprimand, and two Letters of Counseling. He was discharged with a General service characterization.

An Airman was administratively discharged for drug abuse, in accordance with AFPD 36-32, Military Requirements and Separations, and AFI 36-3208, Administrative Separation of Airmen, paragraph 5.54. His disciplinary history included an Article 15. He was discharged with a General service characterization.

 

A Staff Sergeant was administratively discharged for unsatisfactory performance and failure to meet minimum fitness standards. His disciplinary history included, a Control Roster, an Unfavorable Information File, four LORs and an Administrative Demotion for Failure to Keep Fit, where he was demoted from Technical Sergeant (E-6) to Staff Sergeant (E-5). He was discharged with an Honorable service characterization.

An Airman 1st Class did not show up to a required appointment. He received an Article 15 for violation of Article 86, Uniform Code of Military Justice, Failure to Go. The punishment was a suspended reduction to the grade of Airman, forfeiture of $211 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand.

An Airman 1st Class went to the Medical Group complaining of a sore throat. The member never returned to work that day, and told her supervision she was on quarters, texting a picture of her quarters authorization to her supervision. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the member was never put on quarters and forged an old quarters authorization to make it appear as though she was granted quarters. She received an Article 15 for violation of Article 86, UCMJ, Failure to Go and Article 107, UCMJ False Official Statement. The punishment was a suspended reduction to the grade of Airman, two days extra duty, and a reprimand.

An Airman tested positive for marijuana on two successive drug tests. He received an Article 15 for violation of Article 112a, UCMJ, Wrongful Use of Marijuana. The punishment was a reduction to the grade of Airman Basic, suspended forfeiture of a half month’s pay for one month, and a reprimand.

A Senior Airman showed up late to work. He received an Article 15 for violation of Article 86, UCMJ, Failure to Go. He was punished with a suspended reduction to the grade of Airman 1st Class, suspended forfeiture of $1,062 pay, 14 days extra duty and a reprimand. The member appealed his punishment to the group commander, who denied the member’s appeal.
