  • A U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules equipped with external fuel tanks, assigned to the 39th Airlift Squadron, sits on the flightline before a Max Endurance Operation in support of the 2025 Department-Level Exercise series at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, July 8, 2025. The integration of external fuel tanks not only enhances the wing and Air Mobility Command’s ability to reach remote locations with less fuel stops but also provides the flexibility to carry extra fuel to offload for joint forces in austere locations. The DLE series encompasses all branches of the Department of Defense, along with Allies and partners, employing more than 400 Joint and coalition aircraft and more than 12,000 members at more than 50 locations across 3,000 miles.
