7/28/2010 - DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Dyess Air Force Base made history in June when the 7th Bomb Wing Ground Safety Office completed a four-day inspection with no errors, a first in Air Combat Command history.

To pass the inspection, every unit on base must be in compliance with more than 23 specifics.

For three weeks, the Ground Safety office compiled checklists into a file cabinet for every unit to be inspected, including compliance with standards, mishap investigations, hazard abatement, trend analysis, education and training, and operation risk management.

The Ground Safety Office strengths were a strong safety culture, strong unit programs, use of community of practice, traffic safety initiatives, and hazard identification and abatement.

"Thorough preparation by my wing staff and exceptional work in the shops and units demonstrated that the safety culture in the 7th Bomb Wing is truly outstanding," said Jack Wylie, 7th Bomb Wing deputy chief of safety and Ground Safety manager.
