Lieutenant Colonel Scott S. Lew is the Deputy Commander for Operations, 317th Airlift Group, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. He is responsible for the organization, training and equipping of two airlift squadrons and an operations support squadron that employ 28 C-130J aircraft engaged in world-wide combat aerial delivery operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Lew earned his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1995. After completion of Undergraduate Navigator Training from Randolph AFB, Texas, he was assigned to the 61st Airlift Squadron, Little Rock AFB, Ark. In follow-on assignments, he held numerous positions in operational and training flying units, staff positions at the combatant command level, and assignments to the Air Force's Contingency Response Wing, to include serving as the Operations Officer of the 570th Global Mobility Squadron and the Commander of the 570th Global Mobility Readiness Squadron, Travis AFB, Calif. He has served in a number of major operations including Operation Southern Watch, Operation Allied Force, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Shining Hope, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commander, 570th Global Mobility Readiness Squadron at Travis AFB, Calif.
