DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

It was day one of the Dyess Big Country Air and Space Expo 2018, and it was full of U.S. Air Force and civilian heritage.

Some of the acts included Tora! Tora! Tora!, the Twin Tigers Aerobatic Team, an F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, static and aerial displays of the B-1B Lancer and C-130J Super Hercules and a variety of aircraft from all over the Air Force.

“I really enjoyed the Tora! Tora! Tora! presentation,” said Kat Reeves, airshow attendee. “The best part was how they walk you through the events of the bombing at Pearl Harbor, and we got to experience how the bombers flew in.”

There were multiple food vendors, booths with cold treats to help people stay cool and an entire children’s area complete with bouncy castles for the little ones. If people happened to miss the event today, don’t worry because it’s happening again tomorrow with the gates opening at 9 a.m.

“It was awesome, especially with it being my son’s first airshow,” said Sierra Bradshaw, airshow attendee. “I loved seeing the B-1 fly overhead and the planes that made a heart in the sky. I would definitely recommend those that missed it to come out tomorrow.”

Approximately 20,000 people are estimated to have attended the Air and Space Expo today and hopefully had an awesome experience. Remember it will be hot, so please stay hydrated, bring sunscreen and have a great time.
