Dyess Air Force Base, Texas -- For Women’s History Month, we are highlighting Airmen who are masters of their craft and are cultivating the next generation of leaders!
Staff Sgt. Brianna Smits, Airman Nichole Brady, and Airman 1st Class Angel Robertson
“Approximately 30% of our career field's Defenders are female warriors and SSgt Smits, A1C Roberston, and Amn Brady represent not just the very best of female Defenders, but of female Airmen in our Air Force. Each of them excels in exuding the Airmen Leadership Qualities, they lead by example and with humility, and they inspire in spite of,” said Hlavin. “Security Forces is a difficult profession filled with long hours, difficult environmental conditions, and no-fail life and death decisions. Black Cross Airmen and families can rest easy knowing some of the Air Force's most exceptional Defenders are on watch defending Dyess."
Chief Master Sgt. Stephanie Walker
Walker says she draws her leadership inspiration from the quote, “we need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.” – Kavita Ramdas, advocate for gender equality and justice.
“As a senior enlisted leader, before it became my duty title, my goal has been to be these things for our Airmen,” said Walker.
Capt. Erin Pennell
"I try to lead my team in a way that shines a spotlight on each of the Airman’s strengths and utilizes their expertise so we’re stronger than the sum of our parts," she said. "I believe you never accomplish anything alone, that philosophy influences the way I lead my team."
1st Lt. Heather Arnt
"I want the civilian and military Airmen that I work with to know that I care about them as people, and my number one goal is to make their life and job easier. That’s also the impact that I want to have on Team Dyess as a whole; I love FSS because I love to help people. It brings me joy to make Airmen’s lives easier, and to plan fun events that Team Dyess can enjoy with their friends and family," said Arnt. "I believe that when and Airmen and their family is taken care of, they are better able to execute the mission."
Thank you, Airmen for being a part of what makes Team Dyess America’s LIFT and STRIKE Base!
