Equal Opportunity Roles and Responsibilities: Commanders Commanders' Responsibilities · Fully support and encourage resolution of equal opportunity complaints at the lowest level. · Provide an atmosphere free from retaliation/reprisal. · Know and publicize the various channels and procedures for filing complaints or electing to resolve issues through informal channels. · Recommend that the mediation procedure be utilized whenever appropriate. · Take action immediately "whenever" an allegation of discrimination is found to be valid. · When discrimination is alleged, but cannot be confirmed, eliminate any management deficiencies uncovered through examination of the circumstances. · Provide timely resolution and feedback to the complainant or alleged offender. · Follow-up with all individuals involved. Monitor to see that discrimination and sexual harassment are stopped and that there is no form of reprisal activities.
