Military judge convicts, sentences staff sergeant in court-martial
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
A staff sergeant assigned to the 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was convicted by a general court-martial Aug. 8 for abusive sexual contact upon a person substantially incapacitated.
The accused pled guilty and was sentenced by a military judge alone to 13 months confinement, reduction to airman basic, and a bad conduct discharge. After his enlistment ends Aug. 18, 2008, the convicted staff sergeant will receive no pay for the duration of his confinement period.
Aside from a federal conviction, he will lose most of his veteran's benefits and will be required to permanently register as a sex offender.
Court martials are free and open to the public.
