Eight Dyess Airmen receive Article 15 punishment in June
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
The following Airmen assigned to Dyess Air Force Base received an Article 15 between June 1 and June 30:
A 317th Maintenance Operations Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for being absent without leave. Punishment consisted of a reduction to airman first class, 45 days of extra duty with the portion in excess of 21 days suspended and a reprimand.
A 7th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for adultery and simple assault. Punishment consisted of a reduction to senior airman, forfeiture of $100 pay per month for two months suspended, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 7 AMXS airman first class received an Article 15 for being absent without leave. Punishment consisted of forfeiture of $100 pay per month for two months suspended, 30 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 7 AMXS staff sergeant received an Article 15 for obstructing justice. Punishment consisted of reduction to senior airman, 30 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 7th Communication Squadron airman received an Article 15 for destroying or damaging non-military property and underage drinking. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic suspended, restriction to Dyess Air Force Base for 45 days, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 7th Component Maintenance Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for failure to obey a lawful order. Punishment consisted of a reduction to airman with reduction to airman basic suspended, forfeiture of $784 pay per month for 2 months suspended, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 7th Force Support Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for failure to go. Punishment consisted of reduction to airman suspended and a reprimand.
A 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for underage drinking. Punishment consisted of a reduction to airman, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
The military justice system is a commander's program designed to support good order and discipline in the unit and to ensure mission accomplishment. When commanders decide to impose nonjudicial punishment, they can choose from a variety of punishments.
For enlisted members, punishments include reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay, restriction, extra duties and a reprimand. At some Air Force installations, correctional custody is also an option.
