DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

While the Air Force continues to progress and expand, so do the Airmen within it. With a goal to bring professionals together and provide tools to improve work environments, the Profession of Arms Center of Excellence was formed in March 2015.

PACE, based at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, is committed to helping Airmen develop the professional mindset, character and core values required to succeed today and build a bright future for themselves.

“Lt. Col. Patrick is here today to help you think more critically about what it is you do as a professional,” said Col. Brandon Parker, 7th Bomb Wing commander. “There will be some character development, a little bit about how to think cognitively and you’ll learn more about how our brains work.”

Lt. Col. Regan Patrick, PACE senior professionalism instructor, spoke to a variety of Airmen in an interactive briefing that covered abundant information on the center.

“The main goal of PACE is to enhance the culture of the Air Force, try refreshing Airmen on the core values as well as helping them understand why professionalism and understand professional conduct are important,” said Patrick.

Focusing on helping Airmen of all levels understand the importance of professionalism and what it takes to be a great leader, the briefing covered multiple types of learning, how to enhance the human capital, effective leadership and communication techniques.

“Airmen first have to learn to lead themselves,” said Patrick. “No one can order you to be professional. It’s a mix between what you value and what you do.”

Patrick went over the Air Force core values and how each one works as a support factor for an Airman’s professional career.

“Air Force professionalism is based on the foundation of trust, loyalty and commitment, and it starts with acknowledging our core values,” said Patrick.

To this day, PACE is committed to helping Airmen develop a professional mindset, character and core values required to succeed and build a bright future for themselves.

“Professionalism is what keeps Airmen alive and completes the mission,” said Patrick “Without it we wouldn’t be able to efficiently fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace.”
