Airmen on the street: What could the Air Force do to save money?

Healthcare is one of the largest expenditures in the DoD, therefore, we need to analyze proper utilization of medical appointments for active military, dependents and retirees. People think our healthcare is free, however it is one of the largest costs to the DoD. We need to find a way to eliminate unnecessary medical appointments. Decreasing these appointments will minimize unnecessary spending and open more time slots, making it easier for patients who need care to be seen. We should have a unit on base that manages and distributes office supplies. It would help by making sure offices don’t buy more than they need. It happens all the time.
